12-27-2005-Mr. Double-Double
Walter Jackson of Weston Ranch High is this week’s featured Dribbles Car Wash Athlete of the Week.
Jackson scored 20 points in the Cougar’s victory over Livingston High. He also scored 19 points in the Cougar’s win over Franklin High in last week’s Tracy High Winter Holiday Classic. Weston Ranch finished the tournament 2-2 while Jackson averaged 11.5 points per game.
The Cougar’s junior forward played a key role in leading his team to the tournament’s consolation championship on Thursday which Weston Ranch dropped to Miramonte High.
After talking with the Bulletin here’s what Jackson had to say:
Manteca Bulletin: What’s it been like playing basketball with your teammates?
Walter Jackson: We have fun and make jokes all the time. Every time we play we just have a good time.
MB: What has to be your favorite part about playing the game of basketball?
WJ: Taking over and seeing the other team exhausted while we’re winning.
MB: What do you try and do each and every time you step on the court?
WJ: Get a can. Alley-oop or something. I Just try to help my team win.
MB: What’s your personal goal for the rest of the season?
WJ: Average a triple-double or 30 points a game.
MB: As a junior, what’s it like playing varsity basketball for the first time?
WJ: It’s a big difference. I think you just get more tired.
MB: What’s your favorite kind of music and why?
WJ: Rap because I’ve been listening to it my whole life.
MB: What’s your favorite kind of foods during the hoops season?
WJ: Chicken, pizza and lasagna.
MB: How good do you think Weston Ranch can get this season?
WJ: We can get better but we just have to work at it. We have to have the heart and the determination to win.
