Weston Ranch 56, Stagg 47
In Weston Ranch, Vinny Devencenzi scored 12 points and Daniel Brown chipped in with 10 as the Cougars slowly pulled away from Stagg High in their home opener.
Weston Ranch used a balanced attack and led by as many as 15 in a 56-47 Foundation Game victory over the Delta Kings on Tuesday.
Walter Jackson continued to shine at both ends of the court. Jackson mustered eight points, while pulling down a team-best 14 rebounds.
Mic’ael Thomas finished with seven points, and Sam Wilson had six in the win.
“It wasn’t like we had one player that was hot,” Weston Ranch coach Bill Slikker said. “It was a team effort. We had balanced scoring up and down the line up, and we ran our team offense.”
The Cougars (1-0) will take part in the Viking Classic beginning Thursday in South Tahoe.
Benny Flores led Stagg with 24 points.
